With Virgin TV on cable you get loads of great channels plus TV on demand in every package, so there’s always something on you’ll want to watch.

What is TV on demand? 

TV on demand brings you a whole new way of watching television, enabling you to select from hundreds of movies and thousands of hours of TV shows and music videos directly through your Virgin Media set top box.

They all start as soon as you say so and you can rewind, fast forward and pause programs just like a DVD.

Virgin Media’s on demand service is available to all our TV customers in cable areas. You don’t need any extra equipment beyond your standard set top box.

What is V+? 

V+ is a ‘Personal Video Recorder’, and an optional extra. It lets you take complete control over your TV, pausing and rewinding live broadcasts, and recording two different shows while you watch a third.

The box has a hard drive built into it, so you don’t even need to use tapes - you record straight to the box. If you’ve got an HD-Ready TV, V+ lets you make the most of that too.

What is High Definition? 

High Definition is a big leap forward for picture quality, it’s like looking through a window that’s just been cleaned. If you have an HD-Ready TV, you can watch HD content with V+.

How do I get Virgin TV? 

If you live in a cable area you’ll be able to enjoy our on demand service. Our TV packages come in three easy sizes - M, L and XL - and you can add V+ or other services like phone and broadband as part of a great money saving bundle.

They all start as soon as you say so and you can rewind, fast forward and pause programs just like a DVD.

What makes fibre-optic television different 

Unlike satellite, where data is simply beamed down from the heavens, our network of fibre-optic cable can both send and receive information. This means that as soon as we receive an on demand request from you at home, we can respond with the content you want, whenever you want it.

Thanks to fibre-optic cable, the days of programming the video, or leaving the comfort of your sofa to rent a movie are over. Now you can just turn on your TV, and use the remote control to choose from a massive library of entertainment that you can pause, stop, fast forward or rewind, all at the touch of a button.

What if I can’t get cable? 

If you live outside a cable area, you can still enjoy great digital TV, delivered through your TV aerial rather than our fibre-optic cable network. In fact, you can get a Free TV set-top box with over 40 new channels to view with no monthly subscription when you take our up to 8Mb Broadband and Talk phone service, otherwise there’s a one off payment from just £40.

How do I select the show I want to watch? 

To access our on demand library, all you have to do is hit ‘home’ or ‘on demand’ on your remote. From here you can choose from a menu of various categories or on demand content (Catch Up TV, TV Choice, Movies, Music Videos and more).

Alternatively, you can get a taste of on demand TV by going to Virgin Central on channel 119 and pushing the red button to take your pick.

Will I have to pay extra to get it? 

Virgin Central and Catch Up TV are completely free for all Virgin Media customers, giving you a great taste of on demand content that’s constantly updated, as well as our pick of the week’s best TV, saved for seven days.

TV Choice on demand - our huge library of comedy, drama, documentaries and kids’ shows - is free with the XL package and just £5 a month with M and L.

Music videos cost as little as 20p for 24 hours (free for XL customers) and Movies cost from just £2.

What time is TV on demand available? 

Unlike a normal TV schedule, the movies and shows that are available on demand can be watched at whatever time you choose, starting when you say so.

Do I need any special equipment? 

Not at all, choose any standard TV package and we’ll supply you with a V Box which means you can watch TV on demand. However, if you want to record programmes you’ll need a V+ box, and for HD content you’ll need a special HD TV and a V+ box as well.

What does Samuel L Jackson have for breakfast? 

Coffee. Eggs, scrambled. Grapefruit… oh we don’t know! Don’t you want to know about installation instead?

What does the installation involve? 

Our specialist engineers will run a cable from our network, underground to a small box which we fit to the side of your house. We promise that we will leave everything as we found it.

When you fit it, will I be able to see any wiring? 

We’ll do everything we can to ensure the wiring inside your home is as discreet as possible. The wires usually run around the edge of your skirting board to your TV.

Which other Virgin Media services can I get? 

Virgin Media is your one and only source for four great services - TV, Broadband, Phone and Mobile. You can take as many as you like, whichever ones you fancy, and you can benefit from great savings when you bundle more than one service together.

Once purchased, all chargeable on demand content must be viewed in 24 hours. Premium channels or package upgrades, once ordered, must be kept for a minimum of 30 days. V+ must be kept for your minimum contract term.
